What is a BX file or BX font?
The .BX format is an installation file for the Embrilliance Platform. It is most frequently used to install keyboard ready, typable embroidery fonts.
What software do I need to use a BX font?
You will need the free Embrilliance Express software to exploit your BX files.
Owners of any Embrilliance software such as Embrilliance Essentials already have the program they need.
If you don’t have any paid Embrilliance software and would like to create words and phrases simply by typing letters on your keyboard, you can use the free Embrilliance Express software to exploit your BX files.
How to get and install Embrilliance Express
You can download the free Embrilliance Express software for your operating system from the Embrilliance website at https://www.embrilliance.com/express. The software runs on Windows and MacOS.
Once you installed the software, you will be prompted to enter a serial number. To enter Embrilliance Express mode, simply leave the field blank and press ‘Done’.

Install the BX font / BX file
- Go to the folder where the BX font is stored. Your file should have a .bx extension at the end (e.g. myfont1in.bx)
- Open Embrilliance software. If you don't have the software, please refer to the steps above.
- Double-click on the chosen BX file and the font will be automatically installed in Embrillance. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the file into the Embrilliance software opened window.
- When you install one or more BX files in the software, a window appears confirming that the font has been installed. Click "OK" on each confirmation screen.
